Plip, plop. Giant raindrops
fall intermittently on my car hood as I navigate prairie back roads in search of La Reata Ranch. Finally I come upon some marker posts along an electric fence, which I’m grateful isn’t live.
In true prairie fashion, a melodic meadowlark atop one of the posts welcomes me as I pass through.
