I love coming across testaments to why and how travel is important to happiness.
A survey asking respondents about how travel factors into their happiness was done in early 2013 e by G Adventures, with the aim being to draw the connection between travel and happiness.
The result of the ‘happiness data’ collected informed the infographic below. I think you will agree there are some pretty interesting stats. With 83% of respondents considering travel essential to their overall happiness, I felt like this infographic should definitely be shared here. Enjoy!

Hi Jenn,
That’s a fun infographic! A few months ago, I found myself wondering what it is about travel that stirs happiness. I came across this essay by Pico Iyer, which you might also enjoy: http://picoiyerjourneys.com/index.php/2000/03/why-we-travel/. We will meet at GoMedia tomorrow, so I look forward to saying hello in person. In the meantime, I hope you get a kick out of this essay the way that I did. See you! Catherine

What a wonderful essay Catherine. Thanks for sharing that! “I especially loved the lines in the beginning (and then, the end): And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again — to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more … That is why the best trips, like the best love affairs, never really end.”
I look forward to chatting with you as well.
Jenn
